Set within a modernist home in a rural Yorkshire setting, these two guest bedrooms were designed to offer a warm and memorable retreat for visiting family and friends. The brief called for each room to have its own distinct identity, while sharing the same sense of understated luxury, comfort and considered detail.

This was a focused interior design project, beginning with a reworking of each room’s layout, proportions and key focal points. Bespoke upholstered headboards were introduced to bring softness and presence, while carefully considered lighting and furniture created rooms that feel both beautifully composed and effortless to use.

From there, the focus turned to building two individual but complementary schemes through colour, pattern and texture. One bedroom embraces a rich, cocooning palette of deep sienna tones and warm neutrals, complemented by tactile upholstery and sculptural bronze details. The second takes a softer approach, layering muted greens and earthy olive with natural textures and refined brass accents to create a calm, restful atmosphere. In both rooms, fabric wallcoverings and decorative panelling add depth and dimension to the walls, creating a more layered, inviting and enveloping feel.

The result is a pair of distinctive guest bedrooms that feel intimate, restful and deeply considered. Each has its own mood and personality, yet together they share a cohesive design language - balancing colour with calm, decorative detail with comfort, and the feeling of a boutique retreat with the warmth of home.
