Set within the iconic Crusader Mill development in central Manchester, this luxury duplex apartment belongs to a dynamic young professional who lives and works in the city who was seeking a stylish yet soulful city retreat. The brief called for a space that felt grounded, calm and personal, but also functioned beautifully for everyday life.

This was a full interior design project, beginning with a complete reworking of the spatial layout. I reimagined how the apartment was used day-to-day: underutilised corners were transformed into the most loved spaces, and considered storage was integrated throughout to support modern living without clutter.

From there, the focus turned to layering tactile, natural materials that would honour the character of the mill’s exposed beams and heritage bones while feeling deeply personal and distinctly modern. A rich palette of natural materials - from bespoke oak joinery and hand-finished tiles to textural wallcoverings and custom furniture. In the kitchen, asymmetrical cabinetry and statement marble surfaces create a balance of function and sculpture. The bespoke banquette dining nook is wrapped in tactile upholstery and earthy tones, while the bedrooms bring softness and sanctuary through curved lines and layered textiles.

The result is a sophisticated, highly personal home that balances texture with function, and city energy with a sense of sanctuary,  all tailored entirely to its owner’s lifestyle.
